Frequently Asked Questions
Is the course marked?
She Strides Ultra and our shorter distance races are fully marked with tape and arrows, the Calderdale Way is a public footpath and, as such, is way-marked. The Two Roses Ultras and Rip’n’Run are self-navigation events. We offer free recce dates for all ultras and for the Metric Marathon.
Do I need a map?
A paper map is part of your mandatory kit for all of our ultras. This can be in the form of a printed map, OS maps, or you can purchase a map from us at registration.
Can I have the route on my GPS Watch/Phone?
You must have a paper copy of the map but you may have a digital copy as well. Please be advised that phone/GPS signal may be intermittent in some areas. The GPX files for all routes are linked on their individual pages.
Can I have a drop bag?
The Calderdale Way 50 and our two loop courses (Rip’n’Run XL and Two Roses Ultra) can have drop bags with change of kit/additional kit - we will not police what is in this bag however all mandatory kit must be in the bag you have at the start line. The only exception is a headtorch which can be collected from your drop bag on the Calderdale Way and Two Roses - Rip’n’Run must carry head torch from the start due to the time of year. You will also be asked to show your torch on leaving the checkpoint even if you have carried it from the start. You may not leave any mandatory kit behind at this point, this must be carried for the duration of the race. Runners of all distances may leave a bag at race HQ with change of clothes etc. All drop bags and bags left ait HQ must be clearly labelled with your bib number.
Can my family/friend see me on the route?
Yes, they are welcome to pop up on the course to wave & take pictures etc but please avoid aid stations as these must be accessible to volunteers and cannot be blocked for public access as we do not operate closed-road events. You are the priority for our volunteers, not your supporters. You may also not have pacers or support runners on route at any point.

Deferrals and Transfers
As you know we are a small, independent team, running our events with the help of an incredible team of volunteers and making our events as accessible as we can and as with any small company that does mean that some of our costs can get pretty high. All of our spending for checkpoints, medals, t-shirts etc is based on entry numbers and we do try to keep entries open as late as possible. For clarity for all future events please see the below policy:
Entries remain open until two weeks before the event with the exception of the Two Roses Ultras which close 4 weeks before race day due to season demand. Entry on the day is only available on our 5-10km events and the Metric Marathon.
We allow deferral and transfer of places up until entries close, however we can only defer once per entry - this can be a deferral to a different event but in the event of a price discrepancy you will have to pay the difference.
In the event of pregnancy your deferral can be up to 2 years from the date of your original race date.
If you contact us about cancellation we will offer you deferral because we would love to have you back!
If you do have to cancel we understand it may be out of your control and we will be able to offer a full refund for your place up until 6 weeks before the event - after this 6 week cut off we will still process a cancellation but will only be able to offer a 50% refund, again the final cut off for this is when entries close.
Your Feedback is important to us!
At the end of our ultras you will find poster paper and pens for you to tell us about your experience! We do of course operate a no-tolerance policy when it come to harassment of any kind, this goes for runners and crew alike and any instances of this will result in a permanent ban from all of our future events. Please respect each other, our volunteers, and our trails and refrain from leaving any litter behind you!
