Calderdale Way Ultra

Date: May 1st 2027
Distance: 30mi or 50mi
Entry: From £45

A much-loved classic race around the Calderdale Way, taking in rugged moorland, bluebell-filled woods, working farmland, and the odd historic monument here and there, with two distances to choose from. The CWU has been run on the current route by She Strides since 2023, and was run by Cannonball Events on a slightly different course for many years before that. The old route started and ended in Todmorden, the new one in Heptonstall - the climbs are all the same, they’re just in slightly different places!

50-mile Ultra
You’ll set off from Heptonstall in the early morning and make straight for the woodland of Hardcastle Crags, before taking in the views of upper Calderdale from MIdgley Moor, climbing up to Wainstalls, cruising along the canal at Brighouse, enjoying the beauty of Norland Moor and the ruggedness of Soyland Moor, before seeing Todmorden twice in quick succession and finally climbing back to Heptonstall for a well-earned meal.

You have 17 hours to get back to Heptonstall for hot food and a bar.

We have two non-negotiable cut-offs: Withens Clough at 7pm and Great Rock at 11pm.

Should you miss either of these you will be asked to hand over your tracker and return to HQ by the quickest safest route. Should you insist on continuing along the course you will be out of the race and unsupported at that point.

30-mile Ultra

Starting at Brookfoot Lock, Brighouse, you are immediately faced with the climb through the bluebells to Southowram, before North Dean Woods, Norland and Soyland Moors, and the rest of the Calderdale Way through to Heptonstall. You get the same big climbs at the end of the course, and it’s still a 30 miles not to be sniffed at!

You have 10 hours to get to Heptonstall.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times.

All youth entries are £20 for anyone under the age of 23.

Be sure to make the most of the 6 vegan-friendly aid stations, particularly the 6th one in Todmorden, situated between two big climbs we affectionately refer to as little bastard and big bastard. (if you know, you know).

Registration
At Heptonstall St Thomas Church, HX7 7NT- either Friday evening 6pm-8pm or Saturday morning 6am-7am.

Please note parking is recommended at the Social and Bowling club, campers are recommended to use the camping field at the top of Smithwell lane, HX7 7

The 30-mile event has the option to register at Heptonstall & get the bus to the start, or register at the start in Brighouse (HD6 7LT) on Saturday morning (8.40-9.00). Bus to the start is bookable on entry.

Baggage storage at registration. Bag drop at CP5 on the 50-mile event.

Medal for all finishers. Open to all.

An ultramarathon with a difference. - 20th June 2026

This unique event offers you a choice of two 50k’s or 100k in one event.

You can choose between the Lancashire red rose 50k or the Yorkshire White rose 50k or do both…

The 100k will take you out from Hebden Hey Scout Centre towards Burnley, passing through the picturesque village of Worsthorne and into the beautiful Townley Park before turning towards Cliviger and up onto the tops for a brutal climb up to Gaddings Dam and Stoodley Pike, before dropping back into Hebden Bridge.

After a brief pit stop at HQ you will then head out towards the historic village of Haworth and over to Bingley, coming back through the stunning Cottingley Woods with its greenery and waterfalls, before striding past Ogden Water and over the moors back into Hebden Bridge for the finish.

You have a generous 24 hrs to complete the 100k giving you ample time to enjoy the scenery, we have chosen midsummer so you get the most daylight making this a tough but rewarding experience.

White Rose registration 7.00-7.45- start 8.am

Two Roses Ultra - Striding across two counties

New routes for 2026!

Grab the updated GPX below‍ ‍

All our usual ultra set-up with a bit extra thrown in.

Registration will have tea/coffee & toast, this will be available throughout.

Checkpoints will be roughly every 10k- all vegan-friendly with the middle one being HQ. This allows you to have a drop bag, pasta and a cuppa before heading back out on your second loop.

Both loops are quite different, so if you are choosing one over the other this might be something to consider.

The Lancashire side is rugged and although similar elevation it’s all on the second half! A fell runner’s delight …

The Yorkshire side is more gentle rolling hills and a bit more road, making this the perfect introduction to ultra running.

If you are doing both you may want a change of shoes in your drop bag as well as dry socks!

The last couple of aid stations on the Yorkshire side will be open 12 hrs so will be a gazebo to offer a little shelter for staff and runners.

The only cut-off for the hundred will be Leadbeater Dam at 4am.

All youth entries are £20 for anyone under the age of 23.

Rip ‘n’ Run XL

Date: October 17th 2026
Distance: 40mi or 80mi
Entry: £60 or £110, payment options available

Youth entries: £20

Rip ‘n’ Run XL

It.s coming to the end of race season. so why not indulge in a little R’n’R.

Have you done 50k? Now looking for the next step up?

Why not try our 40-mile event - With just over 5,000 ft of elevation, it.’s a good way to work up to 50 miles.

Set off from Wadsworth, just above Hebden Bridge at 7am, you should be up by Stoodley Pike for sunrise, if you are lucky you could get some spectacular photos!

4 checkpoints plus hot food at HQ means you will be well fed.

2 of those checkpoints are indoors, meaning proper toilets and somewhere to shelter should the weather not be on your side.

That doesn’t sound like enough?

Completed 100k & working towards the big one?

Why not do it twice…

28 hours to complete 80 miles means you get sunrise and sunset.

HQ acts as your 5th checkpoint & soup is available there and hot food at the finish.

The route is half open moorland, half road, but don’t let that put you off, they are small, quiet country lanes and tracks, and we feel you will be ready for the gear change by the time you are 20/40 miles in. The last few miles are back on moorland, but this could make it a fast course. The weather in October could also mean dry feet are a bonus.

Cut offs

the 80-mile loop has 28 hours to complete, this means you have to be out of CP8 by 8am Sunday morning.

There are no cut offs on the 40 mile loop.

Drop bag

Those running 80 miles can have a drop bag at HQ for the halfway point.

Registration

Wadsworth Community Centre from 6am Saturday 18th October

Post Race

There will be hot food and refreshments.

You will recieve your bespoke medal and the top 3 male/female will recieve our very special plaques.
